Could Dark Chocolate Reduce Symptoms Of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Could dark chocolate help relieve some symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome? A new study says it may.

According to the scientists from Hull York Medical School who carried out the pilot study, it is possible the dark chocolate is boosting levels of serotonin, a brain chemical. They also stressed that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) patients should consume moderate amounts of chocolate.

Recently dark chocolate has also been found to be beneficial in helping lower blood pressure. Of course it’s not recommended as a treatment, and should be used in moderation. I love dark chocolate, so if this turns out to be true, I’ll have no problem munching on a bit of dark chocolate each day.

However, I’m not 100% sold on these studies…I would really like to know who is sponsoring these studies in the first place…Could the “chocolate” industry be attempting to increase sales? After the last study came out about dark chocolate decreasing blood pressure, my local supermarket actually sold out of it. Hmmm. I just don’t know. And it also seems that just about every chocolate candy is now also available in dark chocolate.

With that said, I’m reporting on this now, but I will be following-up. I have emailed the medical school responsible for this study asking for more information, when I get it I will update this post.

  2. I know there are skeptics and understandably so but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Yes, there is a lot of hype about the health benefits of dark chocolate and clearly people need to be better informed about what constitutes “healthy dark chocolate” because not all dark chocolate on the market is healthy. In fact, most of it is not healthy.

Just because something contains dark chocolate doesn’t make it healthy for sure. The health benefits are easily destroyed through processing and the additives aren’t good to start with.

This being said, it doesn’t mean that all the health benefits about dark chocolate are a hype. I have personally experienced benefits (lowered blood pressure and cholesterol levels) and so have friends of mine. One friend has had sores in her mouth for 40 years and she’s been to every specialist. She said that after eating the healthy dark chocolate they talk about at http://www.HealingWithChocolate.com, her sores went away and haven’t come back.

I know this doesn’t prove anything but everyone I’ve talked to who is eating this healthy chocolate for its health benefits has a success story to share. I believe them quicker than someone trying to sell something.

I also know that we could be seeing results because we want to. I say, if it’s working and I get to enjoy great chocolate in the process, I’m going to run with it.

I’m a skeptic too AND I know a good thing when I see it. Don’t rule out the possibility that chocolate can be good for you, just educate yourself about what makes a dark chocolate healthy and look for that specifically.

Hmmm, that was interesting. Looks like somethings will always remain mystery.

I myself has been trying to solve the mystery of the legend that forces you to have “earn it before

having it”, for a wile now. Could not understand much though.

Let me know in case you get to understand the mystery of the Old Hound and the Legend

By the way, good writing style. I’d love to read more on similar topics
